Mission
Founded in November 2002, the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee (RLCC) is the only national organization dedicated exclusively to electing more Republicans to state legislatures. The RLCC focuses on increasing the number of Republican held state legislative chambers across the country by targeting national resources on key legislative races. The RLCC provides support in the form of direct financial, strategic and tactical assistance, independent expenditures, research, issue development, and training for candidates, staff and grassroots activists.
In comparison to statewide races and even Congressional races, state legislative races are relatively inexpensive and often under-funded. By bringing national resources to bear on these key races, the RLCC works to tip the balance in favor of many Republican candidates.

Background
Since its formation, the RLCC has assisted in bringing success to numerous legislative chambers across the country, including winning historic majorities in a number of states. The RLCC has provided financial training and strategic assistance to those running for state legislator, ensuring candidates are equipped with the tools necessary to run effective and efficient campaigns. In the past election cycle, RLCC helped conduct over 40 campaign training schools across the country.
The reach and scope of the RLCC has grown tremendously since its’ founding, as the number of races in which the RLCC has assisted and supported has steadily increased each cycle. This continued and growing involvement enabled Republicans to find success despite a tough political climate in 2008, establishing new majorities in four chambers: Tennessee Senate, Tennessee House, Montana Senate and Oklahoma Senate. In 2009, the streak continued in the Virginia House. Through strong defense of the Republican majority, the House ended the night with a gain of six seats – leaving eight incumbent democrats unseated. Additionally, in New Jersey where Republicans were outspent over 2 to 1, Republicans gained a seat in the General Assembly. The RLCC will look to build off these gains as we prepare for the 2010 election cycle and its implication on redistricting nationwide.
What’s at stake
According to the National Conference of State Legislators, on average, 12 legislative chambers switch party control each two-year election cycle. This election cycle promises to be no different, which is why your assistance is vital in helping to build up the resources to ensure we are on the winning side of those 12 switches, thereby expanding the number of chambers controlled by Republicans across the county.
Next November races will be held in 88 state legislative chambers. In 27 of those chambers, a net gain or loss of just 4 or fewer seats could dramatically change party control and the direction of state legislative initiatives. Your help will make a difference.
Blueprint for success
The Republican Legislative Campaign Committee's focus is the ongoing battle for legislative control. The RLCC will continue to provide targeted support for winnable state legislative races in the form of direct financial, strategic and tactical assistance, independent expenditures, research, issue development, and training for candidates, staff and campaign supporters.
