Redistricting authority:
U.S. Congressional Districts – Legislative. There is no specific RI legislation concerning congressional redistricting, but the state follows the same pattern for congressional redistricting as they do for legislative redistricting. The Governor has veto power over the congressional plan. During the last redistricting, the state formed a Redistricting Commission composed of 16 members. The commission advised the Legislature in the creation of legislation to redistrict RI’s legislative seats.
