ALEXANDRIA, VA – With his special election victory tonight, Republican state Representative Jimmy Higdon will take a seat in State Senate for the open 14th District seat.  Higdon’s special election victory tonight is the 33rd win for Republicans in state legislative special elections across the country since November 2008.  The Republican State Leadership Committee, the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders, congratulated Higdon on his successful candidacy that will add another strong voice for commonsense, conservative principles in the Kentucky Senate.

 ALEXANDRIA, VA – Voters across the country last night from New Hampshire to Washington state sent a loud and clear message – Americans want a limited, less overreaching government.  Not only did Republicans win all three statewide offices in Virginia for only the second time in history, but gains were made by Republicans in state legislatures in Virginia (+6), New Hampshire (+1), New Jersey (+1), Michigan (+1) and Washington state (+1).  The Republican State Leadership Committee, the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders, contributed more than $2.2 million to state races across the country this year and focused on a new media strategy to heighten awareness of these races.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Not since the late ‘90s have the Republicans had such a strong victory in the Commonwealth – but tonight former Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell was elected Governor, Bill Bolling re-elected Lieutenant Governor, and State Senator Ken Cuccinelli was elected as Attorney General.  In addition, the Republicans increased their majority in the House of Delegates by six – picking up seats in Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads and Southwest Virginia. After trending “blue” over recent years Virginians are sending a strong message to Washington, D.C., that enough is enough.  The Republican State Leadership Committee, the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders, contributed more than $1.5 million to state races in the Commonwealth this year.
