- ALABAMA WIN A PICKUP FOR REPUBLICANS -

ALEXANDRIA, VA – David Boutin of New Hampshire (16th Senate District) and K.L. Brown of Alabama (40th House District) continue the trend of Republican wins in special elections with their victories tonight. Republicans have now won 47 state legislative special elections across the country since November 2008 - gaining 12 seats previously held by Democrats during this time.  Boutin and Brown both ran as conservative Republicans dedicated to lower taxes, less spending, and smaller government. The Republican State Leadership Committee, the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders, applauded Boutin and Brown for their well-run campaigns focusing on commonsense, conservative solutions.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Heading into a pivotal year for Republicans at all levels of government, Ed Gillespie, former Republican National Committee Chairman and Counselor to the President, has been named Chairman of the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC). The RSLC is the nation’s largest caucus of Republican state leaders – focused on electing Republican Attorneys General, Lieutenant Governors, Secretaries of State and state legislators.  Gillespie will provide strategic guidance on political and communication activities – with a particular focus on 2010 political redistricting efforts. In addition, former NY Congressman and National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman (NRCC) Tom Reynolds - who also served in the NY State Assembly – will serve as Vice Chairman and lead the redistricting effort.
